The standard to brief
Each rep is a burpee with chest and thighs touching the floor, followed by a two-footed jump forward with a two-footed landing. The next burpee starts from where the feet landed; hands go down in front of the feet, not behind.
Common no-reps
- Chest or thighs not touching the floor at the bottom of the burpee.
- Stepping or shuffling forward between the landing and the next burpee (hands placed ahead of the toes).
- Jumping off one foot or landing on one foot.
Judging notes
- A lane judge walks alongside, slightly behind the athlete, to see both the chest touch and the foot position.
- Give one warning for creeping forward, then make the athlete repeat the rep from where the feet were.
- The leg ends when both feet land on or past the finish line.
Setting it up in a gym
- Lay the lanes on a smooth surface — athletes put their chest on it hundreds of times.
- Mark distance boards every 10 m so athletes and the crowd can see progress.
Equipment
- Lane tape
- Distance markers every 10 m
- Mop or towel for sweat on the floor
Scaling for beginners
Halve the distance, or allow a step-back burpee for a beginner division.
